Douglas A. Gunderson, of Rapid City, passed away on January 7, 2013 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado. He was 66.
Douglas was born April 6, 1946 in Britton, South Dakota to Marvin and Ida (Fitch) Gunderson. He served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. He worked as an over the road driver for 34 years and logged 3 million miles. He also ended his career as a Walmart associate which reflected his outgoing personality and friendliness. On July 7, 2000, he married Diane Gunderson in British Columbia, Canada. Douglas loved life and lived with no regrets. Through the years he has been to several countries with the military and his professional driving career took him all over the USA and Canada. He embraced his heritage, family, and friends with his heart and soul and will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Gunderson, his daughters, Kelly (Gunderson) Bronson, and Kim (Gunderson) Beaudry, a nephew, Scott Amundson, 2 nieces, Renae Dill and Lana Jones, a brother-in-law, Gordon Amundson, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ida Gunderson, and a sister, Pat Amundson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
