Robert Starnes passed away peacefully at the Center at Rockcreek respite facility in Fort Collins CO on January 2, 2025, at the age of 92. His great-niece, Lauri Dykstra, and nephew, Clifton Edens, were by his side to wish him a final "Happy trails, Uncle Bob."
Bob was born on February 12, 1932, to Clinton and Anna Katherine Berett Starnes in Eaton CO and spent his childhood there, graduating from Eaton High School. An avid photographer, he practiced and perfected that talent while working in and expanding the Photo Department of the Greeley Kmart store and then as an entrepreneur with his own photography business. Bob also developed a love of golf and a skill level that saw him on the links at Eaton Country Club and other local venues regularly with family and friends as well as becoming a faithful follower of the pros via TV. He also loved classic cars from the 1950s and 1960s, a few of which he owned, treasured, and enjoyed driving around Eaton and Greeley.
Bob was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He lived with and cared for his mother until her passing in 1990 at the age of 95. Although he never married, he welcomed the time he spent with his many nieces and nephews. Although faced with some serious health problems in recent years, Bob had a long and full life, and he will be greatly missed.
Bob was the final member of his Starnes generation; his six predeceased siblings in birth order and 12 first-generation survivors are: (1) sister Edith Starnes Lofgren (Vern) plus Kenneth Lofgren; (2) sister Eleanor Starnes Sanders plus Sharon McLees Cole and Penny McLees Hoff; (3) brother William Starnes plus Sandy Starnes Camp (Bob), Nanette Starnes Longmore (Donald), William (Billy J) Starnes, William (Billy D) Roberts, and Kenneth Roberts; (4) sister Arline Starnes Edens plus Serena Hill Dee, Max Hill (Sarah), Brockton Hill (Sarah), and Clifton Edens (Sherri); (5) sister Darline Starnes; and (6) Bob's twin brother, Richard Starnes. In addition, Bob leaves three generations of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
A graveside service at Eaton Cemetery will be scheduled for a future date. To share memories of Bob and/or send condolences for the Starnes Family, please visit moserfuneralservice.com.
