Shirley Salazar, 77, of Greeley, Colorado passed away March 3rd, 2025, at her home with loved ones by her side. She was born on October 11, 1947, to Harry Rivera and Clara (Mata) Rivera Ruiz in Greeley, Colorado.
Shirley grew up in Greeley, and eventually met Pete Salazar, the love of her life. The two were married July 31st, 1965, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Greeley. Shirley went on to complete 2 years of college courses at Aims Community College and had a career as an office technician with the Weld County Government for 25 years.
She was a devout member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Some of her hobbies include sewing, dancing, playing pool, officiating amateur boxing, and riding Harley's with Pete. Her most treasured time was spent with her family and friends, Shirley's absence will be felt by all those that knew her.
She is survived by her husband Pete Salazar Sr., her son Anthony (Valerie) Salazar, daughter Tammy Salazar, brother Richard Rivera, sisters Arlene Baladez, Rosalie Martinez, Roberta Rivera, and Dolly Hernandez, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
She is preceded by her parents Harry Rivera and Clara Rivera Ruiz, her sons Christopher Salazar and Pete Salazar Jr. her brothers Lee Roy Rivera and Marshal Rivera and a grandson Dominic Salazar.
Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with a Recitation of the Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m., both at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Ave. in Evans, Colorado. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street in Greeley, Colorado. Interment will follow at Eaton Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to First Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. 16th Street in Greeley for a reception and fellowship immediately following the cemetery services for Shirley.
