Betty Lorene Gray

October 2, 1953 - December 23, 2018

Betty Lorene (Chesnut) Gray was born Oct. 2, 1953, to Thomas and Helen (McNeil) Chesnut. She grew up on the family farm in Milliken where she attended school, graduating from Roosevelt High School in Johnstown in 1971. Betty enjoyed painting and crafting, especially beading necklaces. She also had a passion for the ocean and would visit the beach as often as she could. In fact, that is why she chose to retire with her husband Danny to Ingleside, Texas, to be close to the gulf coast. Betty also loved nature and would often go to the Snowy Range in Wyoming while visiting her aunt and uncle Lynch in Encampment. Family and friends were precious to her, and she cherished her time with them. One of her favorite pastimes was to sit with her cats on the porch while watching the hummingbirds and other birds that frequented her beautiful garden. Betty is survived by her husband, Daniel Gray; and two children, Sid Gray (Carrie) of San Marcos, Texas, and Mara (Gray) Harris (Derek) of San Antonio, Texas; mother, Helen; and four siblings, Becky, Gary, Carroll and Gerald Chesnut; brother-in-law, Joel Gray (Deb) of La Junta. A celebration of her life will be observed at 11 a.m., July 6, 2019, at the Moser Funeral Chapel at 3501 South 11th Ave., Evans.
