Leslie Doris Herren
May 25, 1935 - March 10, 2022
Leslie Doris Herren, 86, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on March 10, 2022. Leslie was born on May 25, 1935, in San Diego, California. She often shared stories of when, as a young girl in a Navy family, she would ride her bicycle with her mother around the naval base and watch the jets land and take off over their home. She loved to be near the ocean and spoke fondly of her times on the coast. After traveling to many places around the country, Leslie settled in Greeley where she was employed by State Farm Insurance for 11 years. She married Jim D Herren, and they were together for 40 years until his death in 2017. She was a skilled homemaker; she kept a neat and organized home, a well-manicured garden, and was gifted with an artistic side, being self-taught as a quilter and crafts enthusiast, as well as playing piano/organ. She loved the springtime and would often be found outside in her garden enjoying the sun, the dirt, the smell of rain and the flowers. Mostly, she loved her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them. Leslie was preceded in death by her father, CPO Earl A McHoes, mother, Mildred M McHoes, sister, Doris Lee McHoes, and husband Jim D Herren. She is survived by her brother, Arthur L. Williams, sons William D Barco (Cathy), James R Barco, and daughter Kelly R Martin (Rick), grandsons Benjamin J Barco and Joseph A Barco (Paige), and great-granddaughter Kaylee Barco. In respect of her wishes there will be no memorial service; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to any of the following organizations: • St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, • Shriners Hospitals for Children, • Wounded Warrior Project
