Alfonso “Ponchie” Chacon, 81, of Greeley passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, April 9, 2017 under Hospice care at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center.
He was born October 30, 1935 to Jack & Mary (Murillo) Chacon in Gilcrest, Colorado. He attended school in Gilcrest and worked for Monfort and numerous truck driving jobs. He was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and was a huge Broncos fan.
Ponchie is survived by his sons Lupe Chacon (Suzette), Steve Chacon (Jolyn), Vincent Chacon (Aurelia), Arthur Chacon, and Robert Chacon, daughters, Diane Romero and Felicia Casares (James), a brother, Louie Chacon (Gloria), sisters, Jennie Bermea (Eleazar), Alvina Derrera (Ernie), Vickie Segura (Paul), Gloria Chacon, Jessica Natividad (John) and sister-in-law Sylvia, 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Mary Chacon, a brother Raymond “Tinky” Chacon and a son Ernie “Bucky” Chacon.
Services will begin with the Rosary at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 followed by Memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. all at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 915 12th Street in Greeley. Inurnment will follow in the Linn Grove Cemetery.
