Alvin H. “Al” Kain, 81 of Evans, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the North Colorado Medical Center.

Mr. Kain graduated from Haxtun High School in 1954. He later married MaryAnn Sator on February 16, 1958 at the First English Lutheran Church in Sterling, Colorado. He was a longtime resident in Sterling before moving to Evans.

He was a Route salesman for Butternut Bread and Dolly Madison for over 30 years. He started his career in 1964 and worked until 1998 when he retired.

Al joined the Army and served his country over in Korea for most of his service. After getting out of the military he met the love of his life of over 59 years, MaryAnn Sator. He was the father of 4 children, Mary, Nancy, Ken and Greg. Al loved sports. Many remember him as a softball umpire for 28 years in Sterling along with being a high school football referee, Babe Ruth baseball umpire and city league basketball referee. He also played slow pitch softball for many years until he left Sterling. Al was very involved with his church, Redeemer Lutheran in Greeley. He had many friends that admired and loved him, especially his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Kain of Evans, Colorado; children, Mary Horan of Greeley, Colorado, Nancy (Tom) Skouge of Greeley, Colorado, Kenneth (LeeAnn) Kain of Erie, Colorado and Gregory (Angie) Kain of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 11 Grandchildren,19 Great Grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Donald Kramer-Kain of Bull Head City, Arizona, Alice Bauer of Greeley, Colorado, Ruth (Mike) Gartner of Grant, Nebraska and Clara (Bill) Andersen of Ovid Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth Kain, brothers: Bill Kain, Freddy Kain, Raymond Kain, Henry Kain and CJ Kain and sisters, Freida Melby and Henrietta Wernsman.

A funeral service to celebrate Al’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7263 4th Street in Greeley. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Friday at the church. Interment Evans Cemetery.
