Andres "Andy" Martinez, 74 of Greeley, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit. He was born on February 4, 1939 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Filadelfio and Desederia (Casias) Martinez. Andres attended Mora High School in Mora, New Mexico. He has lived in Greeley since 1949. He married Julia Salazar on November 10, 1958 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Greeley. He worked for Weld County in the Road and Bridge department from 1988 until his retirement in 2001. He liked watching football, especially the Denver Broncos, loved working on small machinery and most of all loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Julia Martinez; 3 sons, Jeremy, Gilbert and Danny Martinez of Greeley; 1 daughter, Corina Martinez of Greeley; 1 brother, Lee Martinez of Pueblo and 1 sister, Beatrice Cordova of Lucerne; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Filadelfio and Desederia Martinez; 4 brothers, Alfred, Ed, Johnny, Charlie and Joe Martinez and a sister, Lupita Martinez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 915 12th Street in Greeley. Interment will follow in Linn Grove Cemetery. Recitation of Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
