It is with profound sorrow and a sense of deep loss that we announce the passing of Anthony J. Wicks, lovingly known as Tony, on July 17, 2023. Born on May 15, 1950, in the picturesque town of Arbroath, Scotland, UK, Tony truly lived a life that mattered. As the Scottish proverb goes, "Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat."
Tony moved to Greeley, Colorado, a year ago, but is a native Texan at heart. He brought with him his characteristic warmth and affability. Before his retirement in 1999, he served as a Telephone Line Repairman with AT&T (Southwestern Bell) in Austin, TX. His work in the Telecommunications sector was not merely a job but a testimonial of his commitment to connecting people and making a difference in the lives of others.
Tony is survived by his adoring wife, Linda Wicks, whom he married on June 13, 1998, and their children, Anthea Cook, Sierra Wicks, Leslie Maxwell, Christopher Lupo, Jamison Lupo. He was a grandfather to Mallory Taylor and Nathan Lupo. Tony also leaves behind his daughter-in-laws, Alexandra Lupo and Rebecca Cressy, his brother-in-law, Richard Whitenton, nieces Paige Martin and Megan Whitenton, and nephew-in-law Phillip Durbin and great nephew, Dru Durbin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Nan Wicks and sister, Anthea Whitenton.
I give you this one thought to keep:
I am with you still – I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone —
I am with you still — in each new dawn!
Tony leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.
