Antonia Godinez, 95, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
She was born in Robstown, Texas to Pedro and Juana (Morales) Castaneda. In her younger days, she would travel with her family to Colorado and that is where she met Nicholas (Nick) Godinez of Fort Collins. They were married on September 30, 1951, and in 1953 they moved to Texas for a short period of time. They then moved to Illinois and moved back to Colorado in 1964. From 1966-1978, they operated El Burrito Café and Casa Godinez in Greeley.
Moving to Colorado, she started volunteering at Volunteers Clearing House (VCH) in Fort Collins. Being a part of Las Mujeres Activas an organization of Hispanic women, she always had a heart to help others. Being very active with non-profit organizations and various churches throughout her life, she would always try to help young women and share the Word of God. She liked to crochet, being outdoors, enjoying nature and animal life, gardening, and liked to go fishing, but most of all helping others. She loved family gatherings and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded by her husband, Nick, brothers, Francisco Sr. and Vicente Sr., sisters, Consuelo de la O and Maria Aurora.
She is survived by her son, Augie (Diana) Godinez, daughters, Annette Carrick, Diana Roberts and Grace Godinez, grandchildren: Detre Godinez (Leif Oines), Jason (Emily) Godinez, Anthony Morones, Lory Morones (Matt Alps), Nick Roberts, Dante (Ashliia) Roberts, and Issac Godinez, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, also at the Moser Chapel.
