Arland "Big A" Dawane Hoyt, 68, of Fort Collins went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 03, 2013.
Arland was born June 21, 1945 to James and Lorna (Ostrander) Hoyt in Zion, Illinois. He attended Zion Benton High School where he was an allstar and lettered in four sports and was recruited by the University of Miami. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On September 11, 1971, he married Beverly Cochran at the 1st Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor, Ill. They have resided in Fort Collins since 1973.
Arland worked for Poudre Valley REA as a lineman, a foreman, and eventually moved into upper management. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his family and grandchildren, playing golf, driving his ATVs and riding his Harley. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hoyt, his mother Nell Hoyt, his son, Nathan & his wife Michelle Hoyt, his daughter, Melissa & her husband Jeff Brown, his brothers, Alan, Arnold, Arthur and Andrew Hoyt, his sister, Audrey Rooks and 6 grandchildren: Arianna, Tesha, Orin, Cornella Brown & Rylee and Zane Hoyt.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Hoyt, a sister, Annette Ries, his in-laws, Frances and Harold Cochran, 3 brothers-in-law, and his grandparents.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 at the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 3rd Street, Eaton, Colorado.
