Arlin Sample, 77, of Greeley, CO. passed away the morning of November 8, 2025, at home after enduring the struggle and challenges that come with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Arlin was born in Crawford, Nebraska in January 1948 to Darell E. and Dorothy L. (Moyer) Sample.

After graduating from high school in Hemingford, Nebraska, he moved to Denver in 1968 to attend school at Barnes School of Commerce. He married Linda Becker from Hemingford in 1969, and they moved to Greeley so she could attend the University of Northern Colorado.

Arlin and Linda were active in the Square and Round Dance community since taking lessons from Dale Casseday in 1972. Round dance cuers were scarce then, so Arlin started cuing officially in 1974 and taught his first round dance class in 1976. Arlin was a member of the Northeast Colorado Callers and Cuers organization and an active member of the Greeley Merry Mixers club. He was inducted into the Northeast Colorado Square Dance Council Hall of Fame in 2008. Both Arlin and Linda enjoyed dancing, traveling, and meeting new people through this great dancing community for 45+ years. Arlin retired from Cuing in 2019. In 1991 the couple opened Automotive Services of All Sorts in Greeley and operated that business supporting the area until retirement in March 2021.

Arlin is survived by his wife, Linda, of Greeley, CO. and their children, Cory (Kara) Sample of Greeley, CO, Ivy (Brian) Shelmadine of Alliance, NE., and his brother Wayne "Mike" (Deb) Sample of Goodrich, CO.; his 5 wonderful grandchildren, Jackson, Alexis, Arya and Mia Shelmadine as well as Kadence Sample; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Darellyn Kohrman, and brother Monte Sample.

No formal services will be held at this time, but the family may host a celebration in Arlin's honor after the holidays.
