Obituary

Barbara Jean Giesick, 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at UC Health in Greeley.

She was born August 17, 1939, in Greeley, Colorado to Herbert N. and Mary (Brehon) Giesick. She was a 1957 graduate of Greeley High School and married Roger E. Degenhart after graduation. The couple had 5 children together, two sons and three daughters. The couple later divorced in 1975. However, in 1982 Barbara married Merle Blei. They were married for 23 years before they ultimately divorced in 2005.

As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and playing the piano and the accordion. She even played in the Sunshine Band and Greeley Singer Citizens Band at local nursing homes.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Roger and Herbert Degenhart, her daughters, Christie Smith, Karen Lacy, and Renee Heimlich, a sister, Margie Hettinger, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary Giesick and a sister, Darlene Brug.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Avenue in Greeley, Colorado.
