Barbara Grimes Sep.26, 1920 - Aug.15, 2010 Age: 89 Residence: Greeley Barbara J. Grimes, died Sunday, August 15, at Centennial HealthCare Center. Barbara was born September 26, 1920, on her Grandparents ranch at Elgin, NE. She then moved with her parents, Erwin and Mildred Carpenter, to the Riley Cattle Ranch south of Atkinson, NE. When four years old, her family moved to Creekwell Stock Farm near Chambers, NE, where her father farmed and raised registered Shorthorn cattle. There she attended Valley Center grade school, and graduated with the class of 1938 from Chambers High School. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and then in 1940, married Donald C. Grimes of Chambers, where they resided with their daughter, Bonnie, until moving to Colorado in 1951, living in the Carr, Eaton, Fort Collins and Greeley areas over the years. When living in Fort Collins, Barbara was employed by the CSU Food Services and was an active member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church. She later attended Christ Community Church in Greeley. Barbara enjoyed the outdoors; yard, flowers, garden, birds, mountain cabin, wildlife, picnics, snowmobiling. In her early twenties, Barbara embraced Jesus Christ as her Savior, developing a love for Bible Study, Missions and Christian service. Her ready smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Survivors are her daughter, Bonnie (Gustafson) Cooper and husband Bill of Eaton, Granddaughter Kris Donahoo, and husband Don of Loveland, great grandson, Gregg Deacon and wife, Catie of Greeley and great granddaughter, Kayla Deacon Dansby and husband, David stationed at Lakinheath Air Force base in England, five nieces and nephews, several cousins and brother-in-law Dale England. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Robert Wayne Carpenter, two sisters and their spouses, Marian Carpenter England and Phyllis Carpenter Medcalf, a grandson, Loren Gustafson and a son-in-law, Charles Gustafson. Viewing: from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20th at the Eaton Cemetery. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the First Congregational Church of Eaton/Ault, 352 2nd Street in Eaton.
