Barbara (Barb) Louise Damrell of Eaton died on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the North Colorado Medical Center. She was born on December 18, 1923 in Greeley to William Henry and Elsie (Sitzman) Martin. She graduated from the Campion Academy in Loveland in 1942. Barb married Donald Damrell on June 8, 1947 in Greeley. They moved to Eaton in 1948 where she worked for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph as a switchboard operator and continued with them until 1954. It was then that their first child DeAn was born. She stayed at home to raise their 3 children until the 1970's when she went to work for Wright's Yarn and Craft. There she taught people to knit, crochet and cross stitch. In 1976 she went on to work at Kodak of Colorado for 10 years until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Damrell loved to sew, knit, crochet and cross stitch. She made many afghans for family and friends and she would often donate them to the schools for fund raisers. Holidays and birthdays were a special time for Barb. She delighted in shopping for special gifts and treats for her grandchildren. Some of her other favorite pastimes included going to bingo with her sisters or her trips to Central City with her children. Survivors include her daughter and husband, DeAn and Jim Dillard of Eaton; 2 sons and their wives, Martin and Julie Damrell of Eaton and Tracy and Barbara Damrell of Evans; her grandchildren, Kirsten Dillard, Kyle Dillard, Angela Fields & her husband Kevin, Emily Damrell and Erik Damrell; her great granddaughter, Raegan Fields and 2 sisters, Dorothy Martin of Greeley and Edna Casseday of Eaton. She was preceded in death by her husband Don on August 20, 1998 and her brother, William Martin. A funeral service to celebrate Barb's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Eaton First Baptist Church (228 2nd Street in Eaton). Interment will follow the services at the Eaton Cemetery. Barb's wishes were to have no public visitation.
