Barry Elbert Backlund's Obituary
Barry Elbert Backlund, 71, of Greeley, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
He was born August 20, 1947 to Carroll O. & Ethel I. (French) Backlund in Greeley, Colorado. He was a graduate of Greeley High School’s Class of 1965 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Long Beach State in 1970. He went on to work for the Garden Grove, California Police Department from1972-1975, the Orange, California Police Department from 1975-1989, the San Jacinto, California Police Department from 1989-2002 where he retired as a police commander.
On March 29, 1969, he married Gloria Gail Stevens in Canyon, Texas. She and Barry have lived in Greeley since 2004. He enjoyed being on the computer, but also worked with his hands doing wood working, leather tooling and reloading ammo.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Backlund, his son, Eric Ian (Nicole) Backlund of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, his daughter, Courtney (Michael) Tallman of Stillwater, Oklahoma, brothers, Rollin Backlund of Firestone, Colorado and Darwin Backlund of Mt. Home, Idaho, a sister, Colleen Dugan of Fort Collins, Colorado, and 2 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Ethel Backlund.
Private family services will be held.
