Beatrice "Vickie" Segura, a lifelong resident of Gilcrest, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Vickie spent nearly her entire life in the Gilcrest community, where she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many. She was a dedicated participant in the Centennial BOCES program and faithfully served the Johnstown School District from 1971 until her retirement in 1996. Her years of service reflected her strong work ethic, kind heart, and commitment to helping students.

For 68 wonderful years, Vickie shared a loving and devoted marriage with her husband, Paul Segura. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, creating a home where countless cherished memories were made across generations.

Above all else, Vickie cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother to Robert, Thomas, and Edward Segura, Laura Meisner and Christine Quinones, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family. She was a constant presence at sporting events, school activities, and extracurricular events, proudly cheering on her children and grandchildren every chance she had.

Vickie had a lifelong love of reading and could often be found with a good book in her hands. She also loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing. Over the years, she enjoyed countless fishing trips and adventures throughout the beautiful mountains, lakes, and streams of Colorado and Wyoming, creating treasured memories with family and friends. She also enjoyed taking trips to Black Hawk and Central City, where she loved the excitement, laughter, and time spent with those closest to her.

One of Vickie's greatest joys was traveling. She especially treasured vacations with her sisters and family to the beautiful resort beaches of Mexico, and Italy where she created lasting memories filled with laughter, relaxation, and togetherness. She continued to cherish those trips and the memories they created long after she was no longer able to travel. Whether she was casting a fishing line, relaxing on a beach, enjoying a good book, or spending time with the people she loved, Vickie appreciated life's simple blessings and embraced every opportunity to make memories with family and friends.

For more than 20 years, Vickie courageously endured the pain and challenges of a rare disease with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. Though the disease took away her ability to walk, she never allowed what she had lost to define the life she still had to live. She continued to show up for the people she loved, demonstrating a strength and resilience that went far beyond the physical challenges she faced. Despite her struggles, she continued to put her family first, finding joy in their accomplishments, celebrating their milestones, and sharing her love with those around her. Her perseverance and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Vickie will be remembered for her unconditional love, generous heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She found happiness in cheering from the sidelines, spending peaceful days on the water with a fishing pole in hand, enjoying a good book, and making memories with the people she loved. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, encouragement, and steadfast presence. She will be deeply missed but forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Chacon; and her brothers, Alfonso “Al” Chacon and Raymond "Tinky" Chacon.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Paul; her loving children, Robert, Tom, and Ed Segura, Laura Meisner, and Christine Quinones; her brother, Louie Chacon; and her sisters, Jenny Chacon Bermea, Gloria Chacon, Alvina Chacon Derrera, and Jessica Chacon Natividad. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Vickie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue in Greeley, Colorado. A reception will immediately follow at Kimberly's Event Center, 1029 8th Avenue in Greeley, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate her remarkable life.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Though Vickie is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely and the example she set through a life devoted to family will remain a lasting blessing for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
