Bertha “Bert” Geisick, 93 of Greeley, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Life Care Center in Greeley.

She was born on April 4, 1922 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Conrad and Mary Kathrine (Hettinger) Dewalt.

Ms. Geisick attended Ft. Lupton and Gill schools until 1940. She married Benjamin Geisick in 1942 in Sydney, Nebraska.

Volunteerism was very important to Bert. She was instrumental in the creation of the Colorado Farm Show, she was past Chairwoman for the Weld County Farm Bureau, active in United Way, a past member of the Silver Medallions, volunteered at Centennial Village, the Greeley History Museum, the Union Colony Civic Center and the Greeley Chamber of Commerce. She participated in childhood reading programs at Frontier Academy and Wiggins Elementary. She was also a past member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Geisick farmed with her husband Ben from 1942 until 1980. She also worked for Great Western Sugar weighing sugar beets, worked as a Vanda Beauty Counselor in addition to working for Research Services and Randall’s Men’s Formal Wear in Denver and Boulder.

Bert took great pride in her tractor driving skills, enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work, sewing, polka dancing, her family and visiting with everyone she met. Her giving spirit impacted so many

Survivors include a daughter, Bernice “Windy” Geisick-Sawall and husband Art of Wiggins; a son, Barnard I. Geisick and wife Sandra of Greeley; a sister, Florence Grebb of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 3 grandchildren, Artimus Geisick and wife Jennifer, Christina Boettcher and Benjamin Geisick all of Greeley; 3 great grandchildren, Samantha and Andrew Geisick and Blake Boettcher all of Greeley and a great great grandson, William Schneider of Wiggins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Mary Kathrine Dewalt, her husband, Ben Geisick in 1983, 2 sisters, Helen Dewalt and Mary Rieder and 3 brothers, Albert, Ruben and Conrad Dewalt.

A funeral service to celebrate Bert’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22nd at the funeral home.
