Bertha Hougnon, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2018 surrounded by most of her children.

She was born January 22, 1928 to Jessie and Floyd Nicholson in Beaver City, Nebraska.

Bertha married Robert Hougnon on May 26, 1947 and they had eleven children. They moved to Buena Vista in 1965 and it became their home until 2004 when they moved back to Nebraska for health reasons. Even though she was gone for the last 14 years, Buena Vista was always her home. She was passionate about painting, antiques, garage sales and her family and children. She was foremost passionate about her faith in Jesus which she shared lovingly.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert F. Hougnon, her parents Jessie and Floyd Nicholson, her sister, Nelda Wheeler and a great-granddaughter Chayenne-Sophia. She is survived by her brothers Burdette (Dorothy) Nicholson, Eldon (Marybeth) Nicholson and Floyd Lee (Judy) Nicholson, her children Barbara Avery, Cathy (John) Pfalzgraff, James (Jean) Hougnon, Dennis (Barbara) Hougnon, Joanne (Donald) Raymond, Mary Hougnon, Sharon Wilson, Connie (Spiro) Mack, Sister Teresa Hougnon, Kimberly Armstrong, Michael (Erinn) Hougnon and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 118 S. Gunnison Avenue in Buena Vista, Colorado on Monday April 2, 2018 at 11:00 am. There will be a Rosary at the church on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm.
