V. Beth Groenewald, 44 of Evans, Colorado lost her 13 year battle with Breast Cancer on Sunday, March 13, 2011. She was born on December 31, 1966 in Lander, Wyoming and she moved to Colorado with her family in 1972. Beth graduated from Aurora Central High School and later attended Front Range Community College in Fort Collins where she earned her Associates Degree. She later attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. Ms. Groenewald taught fourth grade at Hudson Elementary School in Hudson, Colorado. She later transferred to the newly opened Lochbuie Elementary School in Lochbuie, Colorado where she taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Beth's passions were many but her fervent love of teaching were evident in the great pride that she took in her students and their success. She had a bond with her fellow teachers who were longtime supporters of her condition and she appreciated it until the very end. She especially loved her family and her pets; especially her class pet Dory. Survivors include her parents, Tim and Shirley Brookey of Loveland, Colorado; 3 sisters, Ann Hansen of Loveland; Mykel Brawley of Fort Collins and Jana Adam of Hubbard, Nebraska; 3 nieces, Mary Clouse, Susan Bencivenga and Alexandra Flory; great nieces and nephews; family friend, John Barrett and of course her special Lochbuie family. A memorial service to celebrate Beth's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Keenesburg High School in Keenesburg, Colorado. A reception will follow the service.
