Betsy Aas, 77, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend took her last breath peacefully and beautifully Tuesday, June 9th at her home in Greeley.
Betsy was born in Halstad, Minnesota on June 15, 1931 to Manley and Christine Furuseth, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 15, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Wallace Aas. After a brief 2 year stint as an army wife, she moved to Colorado from Lawton, Oklahoma in 1955. In 1960, Betsy received her Master's degree in psychology from UNC, then Colorado College of Education. She taught biology, English and drama at Pierce high school for 6 years until her first child was born in 1961. After devoting 18 years to being a full-time Mother and homemaker, she worked at the UNC Registration Center for almost 25 years until retirement.
Betsy was a past member of the Faculty Dames at UNC, and served deaconess at her church of nearly 50 years, the First Congregational Church in Greeley. She enjoyed spending time with her family, decorating, entertaining, being in the mountains, and traveling.
Her compassion, smile, and warmth will be greatly missed by her husband Wally, of Greeley; her daughter Misti, of Aurora; her son Eric, daughter-in-law Heidi, grand-daughter Jasmine, 17, and grandson Jacob, 13, all of Windsor; and her friend and caregiver of 3 years, Bobbie Reinke, of Greeley. Her beautiful spirit will always live in the hearts of those who love her.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street on Friday, June 26th at 2:00 p.m..
