Betty Lou (Rains) Elliott, 83, of Greeley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Betty was born on March 29, 1943, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to John Jr. and Helen Rains. Her family later moved to Kimball, Nebraska,1955, where she grew up in a community she loved, attended local schools, and married her high school sweetheart and had two children.

Betty worked at GRI where she met Richard “Rich” Elliott, whom she married. Together, Betty and Rich opened “Specialties Unlimited/ K.C Lock n Key” there in Kimball. Betty enjoyed accompanying Rich on locksmith service calls. She was also a longtime member of Kimball Baptist Fellowship Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Betty found joy in the simple things that made life special. She loved crafting, helping as well as being very involved in the community, cooking, and gathering with family and friends. Known for her warm personality and wonderful sense of humor, Betty had a gift for making people laugh and bringing joy to those around her. Her kindness, strength, and love for her family will be deeply missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Elliott; her parents, John and Helen Rains; her sister, Joyce Biberos of Kimball; and her brother, Larry “Joe” Rains of Oklahoma.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Robin) Sherman of Kimball; daughter, Karen Lyles of Greeley; (4) grandchildren, Michelle Crawford of Evans, Colorado, Michael Gonder of Tumwater, Washington, Amy Sherman of Kimball, Nebraska, and Amber Sherman of Oregon; and (8) great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a large and loving family who will carry her memory for generations to come.

Celebration of Life will be held September 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Kimball Baptist Fellowship, 507 S. Oak St. Kimball, Nebraska 69145.
