Betty Joan Klaus, 79, of Greeley passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at her home. Betty was born to Edward and Esther Leischner in Wessington Springs, South Dakota on April 23, 1935.

Betty graduated from Wessington Springs High School, and then married Wendell Keith Haddorff. They moved to Long Beach California, and had two sons, Michael and David. They then moved to Fort Collins Colorado and had a third son, Christopher.

Betty was a homemaker and spent her time raising her three sons. She was known for being a wonderful mom, supporting her son’s sporting events, and feeding every kid in the neighborhood with homemade fresh baked sweets. Betty and Wendell divorced in 1986.

In the next chapter of Betty’s life, she found new meaning, through her marriage to Harold (Bud) Klaus. These were wonderful years of living on the Klaus farm in Windsor Colorado, active in her church, enjoying her grandchildren, and traveling. Betty and Bud later retired, and moved to Greeley. Betty continued to be surrounded by her family and friends, loved to cook, and host tea parties.

Her husband Bud Klaus precedes Betty in death. Survivors include her siblings, Gladys Kieser of Wessington Springs SD, Jean Jones of Fort Collins CO, and Dale Leischner of Buffalo WY. Sons, Michael and family of Fort Collins CO, David and family of Hillsborough NJ, and Christopher and family of Greeley CO. Grandchildren Stacy, Joel, Annie, Mikey, Kelsey, Gracie and Sadie.

A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans.
