Billy Joe Brown, 77 of LaSalle died on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the North Colorado Medical Center. He was born on March 14, 1932 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to E.V. and Tess (Gilbert) Brown. Bill has lived and farmed in the LaSalle area since he was 9 years old when he moved to the area from Fort Morgan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Sergeant and he was honorably discharged on October 20, 1954. Mr. Brown later married Irene Markley on November 28, 1954 in Greeley. He was a member of the LaSalle Eagles and the Evans V.F.W. Survivors include his wife Irene Brown of LaSalle; a daughter Cindy Janssen and husband Dale of Greeley; a son, Eugene V. Brown of LaSalle; 5 grandchildren, Aaron Janssen, Shelby Janssen, Jennifer Brown, Billy Brown and Christopher Brown and 1 great grandson, Justin Haan. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.V. and Tess Brown; a sister, Nell Mae Burns and a brother, Jean Brown. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the LaSalle Eagle's Lodge with a reception to follow.
