Bill Knapp embarked on his final adventure on February 19, 2025, after a life filled with love and laughter. He was born in Platteville, Colorado on May 2, 1948. He was the heartthrob of Shirley Knapp, a devoted and loving father to his daughters Meshell Bontz, Jackie Lockner, and son Sean Knapp. He was a cherished brother to his sisters Jo Ann Briggs, Barb Wright, Mae Sarchet, and Linda Kay Coolley not to mention the coolest uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. Bill was very fortunate for the time he spent with his 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
After graduating Valley High school, Bill was drafted into the United States Army, where he was able to travel the world and provided his services to this great nation. As the years passed, he worked through maintenance until he retired as a Special Project Engineer for a manufacturing company, always with a smile on his face.
Work was a small part of Bill's story. At a young age he developed a love for nature. He was a fisherman and hunter, who found peace in the great outdoors. He shared his passion with his family and his beloved partner Shirley. He taught us so much.
Bill's appetite for adventure did not stop at the forest edge, He and Shirley packed so many memories into half a century, hoping all of them will be remembered. From the pleasures they had traveling, to doing yard work, to just enjoying each other's company.
As we say goodbye to Bill, we can hear him cracking a joke about how he's gone to a "Better Place"-probably a five-star resort with endless hunting grounds, Ice off and unlimited internet with Facebook. His legacy is one of joy, a reminder to live every day with a smile, to embrace our passions, and make every moment count.
Cheers to Bill Knapp, a man who left us far too soon but gave us enough memories and advise to last several lifetimes, he may have taken his final bow, but the echoes of his laughter will resonate in our hearts forever. Keep the advice coming, Bill, wherever you are and save us a front-row seat for when we meet again.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held from 12-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 131 Union Street in LaSalle, Colorado.
A private family inurnment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
