Bonnie Jean Beets, 81, of Eaton, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Bonnie was born August 20, 1930 to Rudolph G. and Ruth E. (Magnuson) Rodewald in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1948. On January 22,1950, she married James Robert Beets at the Alger Memorial United Methodist Church in Eaton where she has been a member for over 60 years. She has lived in Eaton her entire life. She worked as a secretary and ran the food service program for the Eaton School District for many years, but her passion was Eaton History. She was President of the Eaton Area Historical Society, a member of the Eaton Pioneer Society, and was the Grand Marshal of the Eaton Community Days Parade in July of 2004. Bonnie also enjoyed her grandchildren, they always gave her great joy. Survivors include her son, Robert James Beets of Greeley, her daughter, Teresa Ann & husband Ernie Padilla of Olathe, Kansas, a brother, Bud Rodewald of Greeley, 4 grandchildren; Jeremy Beets of Greeley, Stephanie Beets of Greeley, Katie Beets of Greeley and Briana Padilla of Olathe, Kansas, and 1 great grandson, James Michael Beets of Greeley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Ruth Rodewald and her husband Jim Beets. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Alger Memorial United Methodist Church, 303 Maple Avenue in Eaton. There will be a reception at the church following the service. Food and drink will be provided.
