Obituary

Bonnie Jean Mascarenas, 70, of Greeley, Colorado, peacefully passed away at home with family by her side on November 7, 2015.

Bonnie Jean was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on March 19, 1945 to Darlene (Bohn) and Harold Joe Asmus. She attended schools in Venice, California and Greeley, Colorado before graduating from Evans High School in 1963.

In 1963, Bonnie married David Warehime in Greeley; they had two children, Tammy and Scott. They divorced in 1979. She married John R. Mascarenas in 2001; he was her best friend and soulmate for 32 years.

Bonnie worked a variety of jobs, mostly in health care and food service areas. She owned and operated Ray’s Café, Grandma BJ’s and B&T Detail in Greeley. She also worked at Weld County Hospital in the infant nursery, loving on and taking care of the newborn babies and School District 6, where she was the assistant manager in Food Service at John Evans Middle School. She enjoyed having fun, hand an uncanny sense of humor, and could always make you laugh. She loved her roses and garden; and was a lifetime Broncos fan. Bonnie treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was actively involved in helping others.

Bonnie Jean is survived by her husband John R. Mascarenas; son, Scott Warehime (Michelle) of Greeley; daughter, Tammy Schliebe of Greeley; three stepsons: John Mascarenas, Jr. (Ande), Jimmy Mascarenas, and David Mascarenas of Greeley; three brothers: Robert Hamilton (Marilyn) of Colorado Springs, Richard Hamilton (Sally) of Evans, and Phillip Hamilton of Evans; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bonnie Jean is preceded in death by her grandparents, Rober & Mabelle Bohn and Alice Asmus; her parents, Darlene M. Hamilton and Harold Joe Asmus; two infant sons; a sister, Nobelene French; and a brother, William Hamilton.

A memorial service for Bonnie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 12, 2015 at Greeley First Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. 16th Street in Greeley. Rev. Robin Rodgers of Hope Springs Community Church in Loveland will be officiating. A private burial is planned.
