Bruce Wayne Hertel, age 70, passed away on September 13, 2024. He was born to Alfred and Elnor Hertel on November 28, 1953, in McLaughlin, SD. On November 22, 1975, he married Anna Roberts of Eaton, CO. He proudly served 3 years in the US Army. He also worked as a cook, then Mountain Bell, followed by a long career in construction. He also served for 5 years as a volunteer with the Eaton Fire Department. During this time, he obtained his certificates as a First Responder and EMT from AIMS. In his free time, he loved spending time camping, fishing and playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Elnor Hertel of South Dakota; 5 daughters and spouses: Sherri (Michael) Lapp of Greeley, CO, Susan (Jeremy) Burton of Loveland, CO, Karla Travis of Greeley, CO, Laura (Michael) Luckett of Milliken, CO and Katie Worley of Greeley, CO; 19 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; 4 siblings: Rose Goodro, Dennis Hertel, Debbie (Steve) Chase, Nancy (Dave) Nelson. He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Hertel and granddaughter Emily Burton.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 Wednesday, September 18, 2024, with viewing prior from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Mountain View Evangelical Free Church, 6253 W. 28th Street in Greeley, Colorado. Interment will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Those attending his service are asked to wear their favorite blue jeans and flannel shirt in memory of Bruce.
