Carol Dean Bruce, 77, of Greeley answered the call to be with our Lord and Savior on January 9, 2014.
Carol was born to Frank and Caroline (Carrie) Wooley, in Denver, Colorado, on September 8, 1936. She was raised in the Riverdale Denver area and graduated from Adams City High School in 1954. She was a member of Christ Community Church where she was actively involved in Merry Widows and her weekly Bible study group, and she loved the Lord with all her heart.
Carol married Howard Vernon Richardson on August 12, 1956, and in 1964 they had a son, Scott. They later divorced but remained very close friends. In 1993, at the encouragement of mutual friends, she reconnected with an old high school friend, Guy Bruce. They were married on February 4, 1994. Guy was an awesome addition to the family and treated Carol like a queen. They were very happy until his unexpected death on November 28, 1999. In 2004, she met Lou Sanders with whom she remained special friends until her death.
The lights of Carol's life were her grandchildren, Hailey and Cory, whom she doted on and spoiled. She loved spending time with them, including attending Hailey's soccer and Cory's hockey games. She was so good about spending one-on-one time with each of them, including taking them to weekly breakfasts at the Egg & I. They loved spending time with her and will miss her beyond words.
Carol was an awesome cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law. She always loved and supported her son and couldn't have loved her daughter-in-law, Sonja, more if she were her own daughter. She also loved her pets, whom she spoiled and treated like children.
Carol is survived by her son, Scott, his wife, Sonja, and her grandchildren, Hailey and Cory, all of Greeley; a cousin, Dorothy Hutchings, of Henderson; her special friend, Lou; and her beloved Schnauzer, Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Guy Bruce.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the Fireside Room of Christ Community Church in Greeley.
