Carol Ann Bolin Sullivan Pitner, age 90, passed away on October 8, 2025 in Greeley, CO. She was born on December 20, 1934 in Greeley, CO. The second of four daughters, to Reuel and Dorothy (Armagost) Bolin of Briggsdale, CO.
She grew up on the Colorado eastern prairie, graduating from Briggsdale High in 1952. Carol attended Central Business School in Denver, graduating in 1953. She was an accomplished typist and a whiz at shorthand, greatly appreciated skills in the business world in the 1960's.
On December 20, 1953, she married Gene Sullivan, of Eaton, CO. They relocated to Goodland, KS in 1966 when the Great Western Sugar Factory in Windsor, CO closed. They were married 20 years and raised four children. They later divorced. Carol remarried Tom Pitner in May, 1980. They moved to Iowa and later settled long-term in Hays, KS with Tom's career in banking.
She loved the Lord and His creations. She loved bird watching, a skill developed from her mother. She and her sisters/nieces/daughters traveled far and wide seeking the common and the rare. Carol's greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She added greatly to all their lives.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Reuel and Dorothy Bolin, husband, Tom Pitner, her sister, Linda (Don) Blackstone, brother- in-law Don Willis (Donna), brother-in-law Chuck Witmore (Janice), nephew Johnny, niece Dawn and grandson Micheal, step-children Tim Pitner and Karen (Lucky) Luckett.
Survived by children, Kendall (Dawn) Sullivan, Jeannine (Chuck) Lutters, Kim (Tom) Karlberg, Scott (Jana) Sullivan, step children Kolean (Rich) Wilson, Kim (Kenny) Degenhart, Tom Pitner, Todd (Yana) Pitner, sisters Donna Willis (Don), Janice (Joe) Pafford, brother-in- law, Don (Linda) Blackstone, and many blessings of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
With all the medical advancements, there is still no cure for a brain losing its ability to connect. The blessing is the gift of time we had.
A celebration of life and interment was held on October 17, 2025 in Goodland, Kansas.
