Carol Weitzel Lind, 71 of Eaton, died on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit. She was born on December 27, 1938 in Severance, Colorado to Henry and Lydia (Batz) Weitzel. Following graduation from Windsor High School she attended Wartburg College (the College of the Lutheran Church) in Waverly, Iowa, and continued to be active in the church throughout her life. In 1959 she married Ed Lind and they enjoyed 47 happy years of married life. In February of 2005 cancer took Ed's life. Throughout her life, Carol had numerous occupations including devoted homemaker, laborer on the family farms, professional volunteer and office manager. Following college, she worked several years as the bookkeeper for the Medical Group of Greeley. For eighteen years she worked at the Eaton Country Club as the office manager, retiring in 2002. Carol and Ed were proud parents of two boys – Luke and Steve. Luke is Vice President of marketing of Five Rivers Ranch Cattle Feeding. Steve is the Director of Golf at the Harmony Golf Club in Timnath. Carol is survived by two grandchildren, Colton and Dalton and daughter-in-law, Becky; three sisters, Nancy Kane, Ruby Loveless and Elaine Weichel; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Barsch and Florence Lind and numerous nieces and nephews. In her spare time she loved to play bridge, golf, travel, read, spend time with friends and especially loved being with her grandchildren at their ballgames and other activities, and for those who knew Carol, shopping. A memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street in Windsor. A private family graveside service will be held at the Eaton Cemetery.
