Carolyn Jean Ballard, 65, of Eaton, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born on July 15, 1961, in Boulder, Colorado, to Eugene C. Phillips and Jean P. (Allen) Phillips. During her childhood, her family also lived in Texas before eventually returning to Colorado. She graduated from Longmont High School before continuing her education at Aims Community College. Determined to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado while raising her two young sons - a testament to her perseverance, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family.
On September 4, 1982, Carolyn married the love of her life, Keith R. Ballard, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love, sharing more than 43 years of marriage.
Carolyn worked as a registered nurse, compassionately caring for others, but her greatest calling was caring for her own family. She eventually stepped away from nursing to devote herself fully to being a homemaker, embracing with joy the roles she cherished most: wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome.
Nothing brought Carolyn greater happiness than children, especially her beloved granddaughters. She treasured every moment spent with them and found endless joy in watching them learn, grow, and laugh. Her gentle spirit, patient heart, and unconditional love created memories that will be treasured for generations.
A devoted member of Calvary Chapel of Greeley, Carolyn's faith was the foundation of her life. She lived with kindness, grace, and quiet strength, always putting others before herself and offering encouragement to those around her.
Carolyn had a creative heart and found joy in quilting, sewing, crafting, thrifting, and creating beautiful things with her hands. Whether making handmade gifts for loved ones or searching for treasures at thrift stores, she delighted in life's simple pleasures. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Keith R. Ballard; her sons, Clinton (Jamie) Ballard and Tyson (Danielle) Ballard; her cherished granddaughters, Demery and Sloane Ballard; her sister, Nancy (Richard) Kopcho; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene C. Phillips; her mother, Jean P. (Allen) Phillips; and her brother, Kenneth Phillips.
Carolyn will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless love, compassionate heart, and the quiet strength with which she cared for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the countless lives she touched through her kindness and generosity.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held Monday, July 27, 2026, at 11:00am, at the Calvary Chapel of Greeley, 2602 W. 27th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
