Cecil Eugene Barnaby, 74 of Nunn, died on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
He was born on January 20, 1933 in Greeley to Armon W. and Vara (Triboulet) Barnaby of Purcell, Colorado. When he was six years old, the family moved to Nunn.
Cecil graduated from Nunn High School in 1950. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army in May of 1953 and he was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas. On November 9, 1953 he married Ruth Ellen Laney of Ault in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Cecil and Ruth returned to Nunn in 1955.
Mr. Barnaby worked as a mechanic for Pierce Motor Service in Pierce, Colorado for 27 years. He later worked for Harsh International in Eaton, Colorado for 18 years until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and watching the Broncos and Rockies. He played the harmonica and sang silly songs to the grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Barnaby of Nunn; 2 sons, Jon Barnaby and his wife Debra and Ron Barnaby, also of Nunn; 6 grandchildren, Robert Barnaby, Jerry Barnaby and special friend Alice, and Christopher Barnaby, Crystal Morgan, Ashley Brandrup and Sabrena Keller; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bertha Harrold and Vara (Toots) Miller and 2 brothers, Dale Barnaby and his wife Kahla and Galen Barnaby and special friend Judy, all of Nunn. He is preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Lucy, and 4 brothers, Edward, Wesley, Paul and Albert.
A memorial service to celebrate Cecil's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. There will be a private graveside service at a later date at the Ault Cemetery.
