On December 5, 2008 the Angels came to get Charlie and he picked up his fishing tackle, fly rod and put out his "gone fishing" sign, to go fishing with his son Ralph Curtis (July 13 1966- November 21 1981). He died at his home with his family and pets by his side. Charles (Charlie) LeVern Essley of Pierce, CO was born on the Morrison family homestead in rural Logan County Nebraska on June 1st 1931 to Arthur LeVern and Christine (Morrison) Essley. He was educated in rural Logan and McPherson County, Nebraska and worked in all sorts of construction and ranching work. His sister Mary Johnson currently lives in Maxwell, Nebraska. Charlie met and married the love of his life, Merna Lou (Hansen) in North Platte, Nebraska April 28th 1962 and moved to Colorado in 1966 and resides in Pierce CO since 1974. To this union a daughter and two sons were added. -Daughter, Arla Vickilyn Sims (husband, James) & sons, Marshall Curtis and Lance Nathaniel Sims all of Ft. Collins 2 sons, Ralph Curtis Essley who passed away on November 21, 1981 and a son, Loren Keith Essley & sons, Micheal Lyn and Austin Jeremiah Essley also of Ft. Collins. Charlie touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a kind and generous man who never met a stranger and always had a joke to share. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed tying flies, camping and woodworking. Charlie loved making projects for his family. He was a member of Timberline Church and the Royal Rangers. A celebration of life service for Charles Essley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 at the Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Rd, Fort Collins, C0 80525.
