Charlie Moser was born on March 7, 1950, in Long Beach, California to Dan and Barbara Moser. His father was a chemical engineer at the Texaco refinery while his mother was a homemaker. The family was soon joined by a brother, Stan, and sister, Cecilia. In 1958 his family moved to Casper, Wyoming where Charlie enrolled in the 3rd grade. It was during his time in Casper that Charlie discovered his loves, particularly fishing and hunting in the outdoors, and his fascination with motorcycles and cars. In 1968 he graduated from Natrona County High School, went to college after graduation, and later served in the Wyoming National Guard. He worked as an auto mechanic for a few years before working at the Texaco refinery. In 1971 he married and began to raise his two children, Danny DeWayne Moser (who preceded him in death in 2001) and daughter Jamie Lynn Moser (Housholder). In 1991, he was transferred by the refinery to Hitchcock, Texas where he lived until 2004. He continued his life-long enjoyment of fishing in Galveston Harbor, and the many waterways of south Texas. He often spoke of his adventures with alligators and other wildlife while fishing. He bought, repaired, and sold many motorcycles for an enjoyable and profitable hobby. Having worked on his grandfather's chicken farm in his younger days, he kept many chickens in his yard as entertainment and pets. In 2004, Charlie had a stroke which left him wheelchair-bound. His daughter Jamie was instrumental in his recovery and was able to help Charlie relocate back in Casper. Even though he suffered this disability, Charlie still remained very active. Charlie became reacquainted with old friends and spent time with his family; especially with his granddaughters (Lauren McKalyne, Savannah Hope, Emma Grace) and grandson (Johnathan Hughes). He frequented the outdoors and occasional boat rides on the water. It was during this time that he met an old friend from the past, Janny Rieck. After a short time together, Janny and Charlie were married at Lake Alcova, Wyoming, on July 15th, 2006. Charlie relocated at that time to be with Janny in Evans, Colorado where they enjoyed an active life. They had planned to return to Wyoming when Janny finished her last year of teaching to find a place to live along the river and be near his family. Last December Charlie was diagnosed with cancer. Janny devoted her life to Charlie, taking a leave from her teaching position to help with his treatment. Charlie received outstanding care from his wife Janny and daughter Jamie. In the course of the illness, they discovered the blessings of having many kind and caring friends (particularly Marcus Rusch who lovingly helped him meet his needs and talked fishing with him). Prior to his death he was surrounded by his family from Wyoming, New York, Indiana, and Idaho. He is survived by his wife Janny; mother; Barbara Moser; daughter, Jamie Moser Housholder; step-daughter, Alisha Rieck; grandchildren: Savannah Hope Housholder, Emma Grace Housholder, Lauren Moser and Johnathan Hughes; brother, Stan Moser (Annie) of New York; and sister, Cecilia Morse (Rick) of Indiana; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. There will be a celebration of life memorial to honor Charlie with love on Friday, April 13th (he would be amused) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1800 21st Avenue in Greeley) at 2:00 p.m. There will be an open house after the services at the Montevista at Tuscany Condos Clubhouse (off of Tuscany Boulevard) to share times and memories of Charlie's life. There will be a memorial service held for Charlie later in June at Lake Alcova outside of Casper, Wyoming. That date is not yet decided.
