Obituary

Charles Wendell Briggs passed from life to death to eternal life April 2, 2025. He was born June 12, 1943, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Floyd and Helen Briggs. He was lovingly known as Pee-wee to his father. He was the first born of this union.

Growing up, his family followed the work in the oil field stopping in Sterling, Colorado in 1954. Charles loved sports and playing in the band in which he excelled. He made several trips for band and even won a coronet which he played, as well as the French horn.

He met Carolyn Parks in 1954, and they dated until September 7, 1961, when they were married. This brought three sons into the picture, Charles Allan (Chuckie) (Wife Cathy), Gary Dean (Deano), and Brandon Scott (Bam Bam).

Charles followed in his father's footsteps and became a tool pusher for Toltek Drilling. He was able to train his two oldest sons in this work. He was an excellent boss to work for and treated everyone like family. He was known as Chas or Charlie on the rig, and he was a jokester. He made work fun but took it very serious.

Carolyn and Charles divorced in 1986 around the time of serious oil field crashing. In 1987 he went to work for GoldCo. He was employed with them for 26 years and received many awards and a wonderful retirement party. At that time, he was able to work again with his middle son Gary Dean for a number of years. He and Jo Ann started dating and quickly married. This brought many more children and grandchildren into his life. They lived a very happy life until his passing.

Charles is survived by his sisters, Sharon (Dan), Gail (Bill), and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, parents Floyd and Helen Briggs, infant brothers Ronald Dean and Gary, Glen which his middle son was named after.

He will be sadly missed until we meet again.
