Chris Alan Covelli, 55, of Greeley Colorado, passed away on September 19, 2026.

Chris was born on February 28, 1971, to Terry and Carol (Ostwald) Covelli, and grew up alongside his sister Terri-Lynn, and brother Kelly Covelli. He graduated from Weldon Valley High School in 1990.

Through years of determination, hard work, and dedication, Chris built a meaningful career in the oil and gas industry, ultimately serving as a foreman with Extraction Oil & Gas. He was especially proud of his team at Extraction and the camaraderie they shared. His work reflected the qualities he carried throughout life: commitment, dependability, and a willingness to give his best.

In September of 2019, Chris was in a tragic vehicle accident that left him quadriplegic. He faced that challenge with remarkable courage, fighting hard every day to regain his strength and independence-including driving his wheelchair-accessible vehicle. His resilience over the past seven years was a testament to his character and a central part of daily life for him and his family.

Above all, Chris was devoted to his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his children grow, supporting them in all they did, and celebrating their accomplishments. His love was steady and wholehearted- expressed in the time he gave, the encouragement he offered, and pride he took in each of them.

Chris was a deeply compassionate and a fiercely loyal man, known for his smile that could brighten a room. He enjoyed Husker football and volleyball, cheering on the Denver Broncos, watching NASCAR racing on television, and Fox News was a familiar part of his daily routine. Growing up, he enjoyed visits to the mountains with family and friends, visiting the casinos, or hunting for mushrooms. His greatest happiness was found in the company of his loved ones and in the simple privilege of being with his family.

Chris is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Kelly and Pauline Covelli and Reiny and Nellie Ostwald.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Kathi, his strength, the love of his life. He is also survived by his children: sons, Kristopher Bayne (Kayla), Jace, and Tyler (girlfriend, Keyra); and his only daughter, Chloe. He was the proud grandfather of Hazel, Nora, and his first grandson, Kyrie, born September 17, 2026, whom Chris had a chance to meet and cuddle; his parents, Terry and Carol Covelli; his sister Terri-Lynn Schaffert (Anthony); brother, Kelly Covelli; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families and three aunts and one uncle.

The family also wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude Christine, Chris’s caretaker for the last three years. Their bond was incredibly close, and she became a cherished part of not only Chris’s life, but the entire family.

Chris’s compassion, loyalty, and generous spirit left an impression on everyone who knew him. His family will carry forward the warmth of his smile, the strength of his love, and the countless memories of a man who made those around him feel valued. He will be sorely missed!
