Chris Hansen, 87 of Eaton, Colorado died on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley. He was born on July 9, 1924 in Blair, Nebraska to Christopher and Carrie (Clausen) Hansen. Mr. Hansen married Ellen Mantz in Denver, Colorado in 1974. Chris served in the U.S. Navy from June 22, 1943 until November 22, 1945. He went on to serve on the Aurora Police and Fire Departments during the mid 40's. He later worked as a truck driver for Gambles Hardware for over 20 years retiring in the late 1980's. Chris loved fishing and traveling in his R.V.. Chris and Ellen traveled the country, among their favorite trips were to Alaska and also the Panama Canal with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Hansen of Eaton; a daughter, Christine Johnson and husband Steve of Centennial; 2 step daughters, Kathy Holdren and Becky Lind and husband Luke all of Eaton; a stepson, Bill Mantz and wife Gena of Aurora; a sister, Eleanor Ford of Aurora; 2 grandchildren, Amy and Michale and 5 step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Carrie Hansen; 2 sisters and 4 brothers. A memorial service to celebrate Chris' life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Northeast Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.
