Obituary

Leland “Clay” Shannon, 68 of Platteville, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

He was born on July 18, 1950 in Washington, D.C. to Leland Claypool and Mary (Threlfall) Shannon.

Clay earned an Associate’s Degree in Welding Technology from Southern Colorado State College. He was a proud welder, welding instructor and volunteer firefighter for many years. He loved to golf, spend time with his family and was an avid Colorado Eagles Fan.

Survivors include his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Kathryn, granddaughters Paige and Haley; and the love of his life, Teri Laeger. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Mary and sister, Colleen Ewing.

Graveside services to celebrate Clay’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville. There will be a celebration of life at the Platteville Community Center following the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the Aims Community College Foundation in Clay Shannon’s name using Coloradogives.org. All donations will be given to the Aims Welding Department.
