Daniel "Danny" Cormier, 68, of Greeley, Colorado, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley. He was born on September 4, 1937 in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada to Alex and Hattie Louise Cormier. Danny graduated from the NDA High School in Cheticamp in 1956. He later graduated from St. Francis of Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Following graduation he served in the United States Air Force. Danny lived in Colorado Springs where his children attended high school. He held several positions while in the area, Duckwalls, Laurys office supply, Cherokee Water District, while still finding time to play his beloved fiddle. He was featured as the "Fiddler on the Roof" in a local production while in Colorado Springs. Danny moved to Kenmore, New York in 1989 where he joined a band and together they were called "The Colleens with Cormier". The band played in the Buffalo area until 2004. Danny returned to Greeley in November of 2005 to be with his family. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dr. Michelle & Robin Paczosa of Greeley; 2 sons and their wives, Chip & Betty Cormier of Castro Valley, California and Scott & Kim Cormier of Greeley; 5 grandchildren, Gavin, Josie, Taylor, Noah and Hunter all of Greeley; 2 sisters, Mary Korolyk of Welland, Ontario, Canada and Simone Bowden of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada; a brother, Gordon Cormier of Ft. Calborne, Ontario, Canada; a half brother, Maurice Burns of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service to celebrate Danny's life will be held at a later date.
