Darl W. Middleton, 76 of Greeley, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center.
He was born on April 8, 1935 in Severance, Colorado to Walter and Zelma (Bittner) Middleton.
Mr. Middleton served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He later married Lois M. Wales in 1957 in Greeley.
Darl was a prolific writer of poetry and has published works in libraries in the area. He loved to fish, but one of his favorite passions was playing Santa Claus at Christmas time for the children at local elementary schools and for people in the Greeley area. He did this for many years until his health would no longer allow him to do so.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Middleton of Greeley; 4 sisters, Shirley Kauffman of Windsor, Bonnie (Harold) Hughes of Englewood, Colorado; Arlene (Jack) Roth of Windsor and Phyllis Beckhoff of Windsor; 3 brothers, Clinton (Joyce) Middleton of Windsor, Marvin (Carolyn) Middleton of Greeley and Michael Wolfe of Windsor and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Zelma Middleton.
A memorial service to celebrate Darl's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Elsa Borgmann Chapel at Bonell Good Samaritan Center, 708 22nd Street in Greeley.
