David Dale Farley, 58 of Platteville, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada. He was born on March 15, 1950 in Greeley, Colorado to L. Dale and Jule (Roberts) Farley. He attended Valley High School in Gilcrest and was among the first graduating class from the new high school in 1968. Mr. Farley married Melba Simpson on May 25, 1976 in Vinita, Oklahoma. Dave served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He later returned to Platteville where he owned and operated Aero Welding from 1974 until 1981. From 1982 until the time of his passing he owned and operated Farley's Machine in Platteville. He was baptized in the Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Platteville United Methodist Church. He was an avid pilot and had served in the Civil Air Patrol which was based in Greeley. One of Dave's passions was mining for gold in Canada with his son Dale. Survivors include his wife, Melba Farley; his son, Dale Farley and his mother, Jule Farley all of Platteville; his sister and brother in law, Grace and Gary Shepard of Faragut, Iowa and his step sister, Joni Stoner of Erie, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his father and step mother, L. Dale and June Farley. A memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Christ Community Church, 1301 15th Street in Greeley. His urn will be interred at a later date at the Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville. Memorial gifts may be made to the David Farley memorial fund to be used for a charity to be named later.
