David Charles Nelson Sr, 63 of Platteville, passed away on September 7, 2016 in Greeley.

He is survived by his wife of 43 yrs Debbie Pearl Nelson. Three sons Allen Nelson and wife Bea, of Greeley, Kevin Nelson of Monte Vista, David Nelson Jr. of Platteville. Grandchildren Marcus Nelson of Thornton, Samantha Nelson of Brighton, Therran Nelson of Greeley, Josiah Nelson of Platteville. Brothers Jimmy Nelson of Keenesburg, Ronnie Nelson of FT Lupton. Sisters Janice Brekke of Norway, Mary Ann Devers of Ohio, Linda Shirey of Broomfield Nancy Chambers of California. David was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Amilia Nelson. Two brothers, Johnny Nelson and Harvey Jr. Nelson. He considered Sandy Stepp like a daughter, and her children Shaili and Kaiden as his grandchildren.

He was born in Brighton, Colorado November 29, 1952, grew up in Ft. Lupton. He was a farmer, dry-waller, plumber and fix it man. He enjoyed fun times with family and friends. Loved to throw dinners, bbq’s and parties to gather people together for a good time. He loved spending time with his grand kids, they were the light of his life.

He was a simple man with country values and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He touched many lives. His heart was bigger than his stature. Friends were also family to him and he cared deeply even if he didn’t always show it.

A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans.
