Obituary

He was born on May 19, 1956, in Garden City, Kansas, to L.K. and Helen (Schull) Schoepf. He graduated from Dodge City High School and lived in Dodge City until 1989, when he moved to Greeley, Colorado, where he remained until his passing.

Shortly after moving to Greeley, David met the love of his life, Lisa Penland. They were married in Greeley on July 30, 1993, and together with Lisa’s son, David, built a life and family together.

David worked many jobs over the years. During his time in Dodge City, he worked for Culvers Body Shop, Roto-Mix, and Stewart Plumbing. While he lived in the Greeley area, he worked for Botec, Hensel Phelps, Bill’s Volume Sales, and for Weld County. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades.

Outside of work, David loved to unwind by spending time in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or four-wheeling, he felt most at peace outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.K. and Helen Schoepf; and his stepson, Joshua Vukovinsky.

David is survived by his wife, Lisa Schoepf of Greeley, CO; stepson, David Penland of Cheyenne, WY; brother, Douglas Schoepf of Dodge City, KS; sisters, Barbra Soza of Wichita, KS, and Alice Gonzales of Dodge City, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Smokin’ Bros Barbeque, 241 S. Elm Avenue, Unit 3, in Eaton, Colorado.
