Obituary

Dean K. Rogers, 82, of Greeley passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his home. He was born November 1, 1931, in Norton, Kansas to Arthur and Martha (Schickedanz) Rogers. He graduated from Norton High School in 1949 and later spent two years in the United States Army where he learned and taught the electrical trade. In 1951, he married Peggy Small in Hill City, Kansas and they moved to Greeley in 1957. Since then, Mr. Rogers has worked for Cowan Concrete, Tri-City Electric, J&H Electric, Burch Electric, CDS Electric, and Miller Electric. He loved Jesus, enjoyed being a song leader and Sunday school bus driver, and loved mechanical work and staying busy. Mr. Rogers is survived by: his life-long companion Dorothy Sells; a daughter, Penny R. (Rick) Gregory, his son Terry L. (Sandi) Rogers, step-son Ken Sr. (Marilee) Sells, and honorary son Perry (Pat) Miller; grandkids Daniel C. (Tonia) Rogers, Marla D. (Ken) Daniels, Heather A. Rogers (Dustin Smith) and six step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, including special great-granddaughters, Alle and Aria Daniels; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha Rogers, a son, Daniel L. Rogers, a step-daughter, Sheryl Sells Yancey, and grandsons, Terald Ledean Rogers, Jr., and Joshua I. Rogers. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday and again at 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the Moser Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, in Evans. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Norton Cemetery in Norton, Kansas. Memorial gifts may be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Awareness Network in care of Moser Funeral & Cremation Service.
