Obituary

Debra E. Newport, 54, of Greeley passed away in her home on October 21, 2014.

Debra was born to Harold and Dorothy (Leiker) Herman on February 7, 1960 in Garden City, Kansas. On April 13, 1985 she married her husband, Ted Newport, in Greeley. They lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota for a year, and then in October of 1986, they settled down in Greeley, were they built a home and a family. They had one son, Ted Newport, Jr.

Debra loved the holidays, and enjoyed specially decorating her house for each one. She was an avid Broncos football fan. Above all, she was a dedicated mother and wife who devoted her time to her family. When she wasn’t caring for her family, she was volunteering at the Scott Elementary School, and did so for many years. In her spare time, Debra greatly enjoyed camping and fishing at the Red Feather Lakes. She attended the St. Mary Catholic Church.

Debra is survived by her husband, Ted Newport of Greeley; a son, Ted Newport, Jr. of Greeley; her mother, Dorothy Herman of Greeley; and many aunts and uncles, including Theresa Woodard of Ft. Collins, Linda (Dale) George of Broomfield, Mary (Frank) Ewing of Leavenworth, Kansas, Tom Leiker of Kansas City, Kansas, Don (Dawn Ellen) Leiker of Garden City, Kansas, and Betty(Dick) Parrish of Hobbs, New Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Herman and her sister, Betty “Missy” Herman.

A visitation 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 followed by Recitation of Rosary at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Interment immediately following the service at Linn Grove Cemetery.
