Diane Sears, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died on May 25, 2015, at the age of 83. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Doug Sears, for 31 years before his death in 1983. Together they had three children, seven grandchildren and, for now, two great-grandchildren.

Diane lived her life loving and serving her family and others, beginning very early as the eldest of three sisters and a brother in a single-mom home. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1950, remaining close to many of her classmates whom she loved and enjoyed throughout her life.

She married Doug in 1952 when he was still in college at the Colorado School of Mines. After Doug’s graduation, several transfers to various cities throughout the West, and his service in the U.S. Army, they settled back in their hometown of Greeley where they lived and raised their family. For regular getaways, Diane and Doug enjoyed time in Scottsdale. After Doug’s death, she continued to spend many happy times there with her kids, grandkids and friends over the years. She was deeply rooted and very active and happy living in Greeley with many dear friends.

One of the dearest and most-loved of all was her constant companion for many years later in her life, Jim Adams. Watching every Bronco game was just one of their many cherished times together. Jim was a gift from heaven for Diane, and remains so to her family.

Having lived a modest life growing up, she took pleasure and was content with simple things: caring for her family and others and knowing they were safe and well; the beauty of God’s creation; and enjoying good music, a good meal, a good story and a good laugh. She was a grateful American who loved her country and never took for granted the freedoms she and her family were privileged and blessed to enjoy every day. She always said “please” and “thank you.”

Diane was a woman without pretense and with intelligence, strength and compassion as revealed throughout her life in her faith in God, love for and devotion to family, friends, community and country, and genuine humility. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends until we meet again in the presence of the Lord.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Jennifer, sons, Steve (Jane Farrell) and Curtis (Marcia), and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Walker, Noah, Colby, Doug, Annie, Emma, Molly, Reilly and Keller.

A graveside service for immediate family is planned. Memorial gifts to Hospice of Northern Colorado or Fellowship Church may be made in care of Moser Funeral Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado.
