Donald E. Joyce, 90, of Greeley passed away at Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado on Monday, February 24, 2014.
He was born January 18, 1924 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Edward and Helen (Nusse) Joyce. Donald lived in Fort Morgan from 1928 until 1936. He later attended and graduated high school from Scottsbluff, Nebraska where he was part of the basketball team that won the state tournament in 1941. He then went on to attend the University of Wyoming until he entered the Marines where he served from 1942 until 1946.
Donald married Elizabeth (Biz) Motley in 1950. He was employed for the Keebler Company and has lived in Greeley since 1962.
Survivors include Mary Sachs and husband Bob of Wiggins, Colorado, Tim Joyce of Centennial, Colorado, Kathleen Joyce of Greeley, Colorado, Michael Joyce and wife, Andrea of Denver, Colorado, Peggy Wilson and husband, Dan of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Theresa Rupp and husband Mark of Eaton, Colorado , nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Joyce and a sister, Alice Straubinger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, "Biz" and brother Tom.
A memorial service to celebrate Donald's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, in Evans.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Hospice of Northern Colorado or the Weld County Humane Society in care of Moser Funeral Service.
