Donna Marie Detter, 83 of Greeley, died on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Life Care Center in Greeley.
She was born on May 13, 1925 in Canby, Minnesota to Juan and Gladys Antionette (Conn) Peterson.
Donna graduated from the Canby High School in 1943. She has lived in the Greeley/Evans area since 1953. She married Reuben Detter on June 13, 1990 in Loveland. They loved dancing and going to their cabin in the mountains. They were very active in the Moose Lodge of Evans and the American Legion of Greeley. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1999.
Donna was a loving, caring mother who worked for School District 6 for 21 years as a Librarian's and Teacher's Assistant at Jefferson Elementary, John Evans Junior High and Chappelow Elementary. She also served as den mother for son Dean's Cub Scout Pack, was a life member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Evans Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Debbie Pattan and husband Dave of Greeley; her sons, Dean Melby of Evans, Doug Melby and wife Sherry of Evans and Red Melby and wife Dawn of Greeley; 6 grandchildren, Robert Melby, Nikki Hader, Michelle Shafer, Barbara Rosales, Annette Pattan and Danielle Spickard and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Reuben, she is preceded in death by her parents Juan and G. Antionette Peterson; a sister, Doris McCready and a brother, Donald Peterson.
A funeral service to celebrate Donna's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
