Dorothy A. Claus, 79, of Windsor, died on Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley. She was born on January 12, 1927 in Eaton, Colorado to August and Amelia (Winter) Schott . Dorothy married Vernie Claus at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greeley in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1996. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1945. Following graduation she worked for the S. & H. Kress Company from 1945 until 1948 and later for J.V. Smith and Sons from 1948 until 1969. Mrs. Claus was also a devoted homemaker while her husband managed Vern's Conoco in Windsor. In 1982 she returned to work in the retail field for J.M. McDonalds in Greeley and later to J.C. Penney Co. from 1983 until 1998 when she retired. She loved working with the public and would have continued to do so if her health would allow it. Mrs. Claus loved being with her family and especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She was a former member of the Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor. During the last four years she has attended the Heart of the Rockies Christian Church in Ft. Collins with her son Gordon. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Pearson and her husband Greg of Windsor; a son, Gordon E. Claus and his wife Roslyn of Ft. Collins; 2 grandchildren, Lindsay and Hailey Pearson both of Windsor; 2 sisters, Kathryn Beyer and her husband Vern of Sidney, Nebraska and Barbara Schott of Sidney, Nebraska and 2 brothers, Kenneth Schott and his wife Beverly of Greeley and James Schott and his wife Janice of Littleton. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, August and Amelia Schott. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor, 1020 Walnut St..
